The coveted korvai weaving technique from the house of Chettinad.
Intricate in execution, the woven attachment of korvai borders is one of the hallmarks of a kanjivaram/chettinad classic. Beautifully hand woven through the laborious process of jointed border attachments to the body of the sari, this weaving detail becomes a design feature in itself, taking on a multitude of forms from a straight line interlock to the more traditional sharp edged triangle and more elaborate temple inspired gopuram forms.
The use of the korvai technique further enhances the bold use of colour, creating solid and textured borders that emphasis high contrast to the warp and weft that run through the body.
